Diane Hawk weeps as sister Virginia Giglio brings the news that an anonymous generous donation had brought her Surgery Fund to over $17,000. Diane Hawk's life-saving gastric bypass surgery will take place in late September. Through the generous donations of the community and the efforts of hardworking family members, more than $17,000 has been raised toward the $20,000 goal for hospitalization and necessary post-surgical therapies. An anonymous person agreed to pay the surgeon's fee earlier this year. In addition to several large donations, benefit activities such as Indian Taco Sales and a Mexican Dinner have been held at the Lighthouse Praise and Worship Center. At a Birthday Powwow in May, Burton Hawk's grullo Appaloosa horse was raffled, and additional funds were raised through traditional giveaways. Because a recent generous anonymous gift made the surgery fund rise to $17,000, bariatric surgeon Dr. Henry Pearce's office announced that surgery could be scheduled. Additional donations to take Diane's fund all the way to the top are still welcome and may be sent to The Bariatric Institute of Oklahoma, Diane Hawk Surgery Fund, 105 S. Bryant, Suite 105,Edmond, Oklahoma, 73034.
