It's four days before the big day, and Diane gets ready to have her legs examined by ultrasound. This is to determine if there are blood clots present in her legs.

Technician Rob applies goo to Diane's leg, applies the ultra sound device, and examines the monitor. Rob explains that blood vessels show as black, clots would show as white, and that blue and red indicate blood flow. The speed of the flow is indicated by varying hues in the colors.

Diane laughs because she is ticklish.
Fortunately, her legs checked out A-OK for the surgery!

Diane has her vital signs taken by Nurse Stacie, who finds Diane's blood pressure elevated from all the excitement.

"Before" measurements are taken with a tape.

Diane is also measured with calipers.

Diane's daughter Consuelo videotapes this important day.

Dr. Henry Pearce goes through every detail of the surgery with Diane. He also explains about recovery and post-op care. For more information about the surgery, see http://www.bariatricinstituteok.org

Dr. Pearce and Diane "cheese" for the camera.
