It's the first time Dr. Brett Krablin, Diane's family physician, has seen her since the surgery on September 24. It's an emotional visit. Dr. Krablin is "blown away" that Diane has needed no insulin injections since the surgery and no other medications - including blood pressure medicine. Her blood pressure has remained normal, and her sugar levels have ranged around 109-120 for about 3 weeks!

Later at Dr. Pearce's office, Diane receives a B-12 injection. This vitamin is now more important than ever. Since the surgery took away a lot of her stomach, she will be unable to absorb sufficient B-12 from her food for a while.

Dr. Pearce is pleased with the results so far. He tells her to keep eating protein, even recommending a supplement. In two weeks, says Dr. Pearce, Diane can re-enter the water aerobics class at the Kingfisher Oklahoma Aquatic Center!

In order to demonstrate her weight loss, Diane poses at the sugar display in the Kingfisher United Grocery Store. The five 5-lb bags of sugar are a close representation of her weight loss - 24 pounds in 2 weeks!  Down from 409 to 385, she has lost 1/16th of her pre-surgery weight.
